      Connect a keyboard and exit EmulationStation by pressing F4. From the command line, run

      cd RetroPie-Setup sudo ./retropie_setup.sh

      the reset the inputs from:

      Configuration/Tools ➤ emulationstation ➤ Clear / Reset EmulationStation Input Configuration

      You can then start back EmulationStation by typing emulationstation and you should get prompted to configure your gamepad again.

      This was the f-up, yes. As said, I'm fairly new to this platform, and I deleted the .cfg based on a post I found online and it let me reconfigure the controller, so I assumed this was the entirety.

      Works perfectly now, thanks a ton for the help!

      @sleve_mcdichael Thanks for the clarification. I think I'll just use quotes anyways since, it sounds like it's a good habit to get into for more complex data like strings.

      @sirhenrythe5th Hmm... It's been more than a few days, but when I update RetroArch, all I get is 1.9.5. Am I doing something wrong?

      Hi Eisbergsalat

      I bought an EasySMX controller recently for retropie use, but I can't for the life of me get retropie to recognise it at all. Did you do anything different to get it recognised, i.e. load any additional modules etc?

      Thanks

      Evan

      Okay. I was able to fix this by re-installing RetroArch. This doesn't explain what went wrong the first time, but I'm glad I get to enjoy this wonderful emulator now.

      Feel free to delete this thread.

      Keep up the good work!

      @mitu Watch at around 1:43 and see what the floating muscle guy does when you shoot.

      Here is a video I just recorded on my phone of what it does in RetroPie:

      @mitu Thanks for the links, I'll have a look and try to figure it out. I don't think it's shaders though as when I go into that menu for either it doesn't say any shaders are set and when I enable one I get serious lag issues. The only difference I could see was the colour palette was different. But when I change that to be the same I only get a very slight green tinge. So I'm a bit stuck on what's causing that 😅

      I'm having exactly the same issues as you were in getting the USB Gamepad to work in the vice C64 emulator. Which port configuration worked for you when using a Gamepad and keyboard?

      Thanks

      Adam.

      @Drakaen391 the way retroarch is set up it is probably better to setup like a super nintendo controller and then swap the a and b controls for emulationstation. All emulators using retroarch were set up to set the controls correctly based on that setup and orientate the buttons accordingly

      @AlexMurphy

      I'm happy to hear that it should work but as I said : RetroArch reload but the screen now show 1.3.4 - No Core instead of 1.3.4 - MAME 2003 0.78 and I cannot start the game at this point (please note that I have no Core under "Load Core" but all of my games are running fine)

      Is the 1.3.4 - No Core error message rings a bell to anybody ? Maybe something I need to configure so the reload will work like adding Core, playing with the ON/ OFF feature for certain parameters ?

      @dankcushions and @BuZz , already post this message on the Recalbox Forum but did not receive any answer about the "Load Configuration" function =(

      Since it might be a bug in 1.3.4, I will stop harassing you =)

      Thanks for everything !

      I think I need edit the hardcoded configuration with the id of the gamepad...
      https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/RetroArch-Configuration#hardcoded-configurations

      ###add one line here for example input_player_joypad_id=dualshock3
      input_player1_joypad_index = 0
      input_player1_b_btn = 2
      input_player1_a_btn = 1
      input_player1_y_btn = 3
      input_player1_x_btn = 0
      input_player1_l_btn = 4
      input_player1_r_btn = 5
      .........

      anyone know this command?? Thanks forum!
